Garden Love

Well our garden has been doing really well this year. I guess the hard work of changing it has paid off so far. We still need to add a drip system in the future, but other than that it has been great. I thought I better get some pictures before it gets too hot. This year we have planted peas, leaf and head lettuce, peppers, carrots, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes (lots of them), potatoes, onions and radishes. We are hoping after the peas are done we will add some beans. We have been using the lettuce, onions and radishes. Still waiting on the rest! Happy gardening….

New Family Members

Well we added some new family members to the family last week. Snickers and Pepper. We swore not to add any new animals, but the kids used their own money and came home with some cute little bunnies. We decided with 2 they can have a friend right!? Well they are both FEMALE, at least that is what we were told! I guess if I post some bunnies for sale you all know the truth! It has been so fun and Roxie has even loved it. That is funny since it took her awhile with Hopper. She hasn't barked once or bothered them at all. The kids are with them and Roxie every chance they get. Briana has to check them periodically all day. The names, well they had a hard time deciding so we had to put them in a cowboy boot (not sure why they wanted a boot instead of a hat) and chose 2 of the names they liked. Well Kaly cleaned the cage Saturday and they all help feed them. I guess we will see how long they stay motivated.

Soccer Season

We had a fun soccer season this year. Funny thing was we were anxiously awaiting our list of what team we were on like everyone else. When we got the letter of course the first thing you do is look at the coach. It said Hatch on one and Hatch on the other. We thought well, is there another Hatch? Jeremy's brother must be coaching.......looking at the phone number it was us. Then we figured, sure one is ours, but the other must be Layne, nope our phone number was both! Well we actually really enjoyed being with these kids and had a great time. Both teams did great. We had some go-getter kids that is for sure! Great job to all of them. Kadens team didn't lose one game (not like they keep score, but we did of course!) Mady's team lost twice, but they did great. Both of them loved it this year and since it was their second year I think they understood better and really had fun. Baseball has already started so here we go! We love this time of year. Unfortunately the weather has been so crazy. Madelyn only had 2 games not in the wind and rain. Her first and last! Hopefully the sun will start shining for baseball season. What will happen is we will probable just jump to 90! Let's hope not!

Track Meet

Madelyn ran in the 100 and 200 for the Hershey Track Meet. She did great. She took 2nd in both of her heats. This was her first time to race on the track. I think she loved it! I know we enjoyed watching. We let Kaly skip school to come watch. Good Job Mady!

Easter

We had a great Easter. My grandparents were here as well as Jeremy's family. We had a lot of fun, but it was busy, busy. Here are only a few pics. Sorry we didn't take many.

Happy Birthday Kalyann!

Happy Birthday Kalyann! We love you! 11 years old, where in the world does time fly! I can't believe she will be in 6th Grade! Whew! (sorry about the pics, for some reason I can't get them to go upright!) I think she was excited about her gift. It was only a blow dryer! I was a cute one though :o)

Spring Break

This year for Spring Break we stayed around. We went sledding, hiking, biking, geocaching. We had a great time and loved the kids being home.

Hurricane Idol!

Well we had a very busy and eventful week this past week. The girls were nominated to participate in the Hurricane Idol. Now for those of you not from here, to my girls it was a big deal. Ha Ha!! Well there were 70 nominated, but 60 ended up participating. We were busy looking for songs that would work for them. Kalyann chose Best Day of Our Lives by Kelli Pickler for her first song and Firflies for her second if she made it to the finals. Madelyn chose Love Story from Taylor Swift for her first song and Tommorrow from Annie for her 2nd if she made it to the finals.

Thursday night was the big day. Madelyn was number 3 and Kalyann was number 13. Which they both said were their favorite numbers. :o) Well they both did great. It was a full house with many standing. They didn't seem nervous at all! They had 5 judges there. Madelyn made it to the final 3, but Kaly didn't. She did really good though. I think she was a little relieved not to have to get ready for Saturday!! The judges gave them comments and a certificate. We had lots of friends and the girls' cousins and aunt there and that was so fun for them.
Here is some video of Thursday night:

Mady, Love Story on Thursday Night.

Kaly The Best Day of Your Life Thursday Night
Saturday we were all excited to go. Saturday night the audience judges. At the end of the performances they pass out scantron sheets and we vote which one we want in each category. Then they run them through the machine to give the results. Madelyn was a little down all day and we weren't sure if it was nerves or she just wasn't feeling herself. The wonderful mom I am I kept saying "Do you need Tylenol?", well that didn't work. "Soup?", that didn't work either, okay the big one!! "How about a Pepsi?" I don't normally ask if my kids need a Pepsi, but she needed something to wake her up and lift her spirits! She took 2 sips I think, but that was all. Well when the make up and hair was done, she was in her dress, the sparkle came back and she was fine. I think a little more rest would have been good!

Mady was #1 so that was a little nerve racking. I just said at the end she can wave her finger, #1 vote #1 and that would be cool. I said, when will you ever be #1 for a competition again, so just have fun with it! Well she did Tommorrow first and did great. Then after all the contestants finished thier first song, she performed Love Story, which she likes the best, and whew! She was done. We weren't sure what the results would be since it is pretty much a popularity contest at this point. One of the other little boys had an older brother in High School with some loud cheers so we were thinking he had the vote from all of them. Mady's cousins made cute signs and coloring pictures for her. We all cheered loud and had plenty of friends there for her. Then the time came and the Hurricane Pee Wee Idol was Madelyn Hatch! We were so excited. She was thrilled. She got some fun prizes including a 2 hour recording session, photo session, and a bunch of gift certificates and $20. We had a blast and Kaly says she can't wait until next year! (I was probably the most stressed, but isn't that the way it goes!)

Catch Up!

Well the sad thing is I haven't blogged since November, so we won't go into the details of the Holidays. Just a quick update. My grandparents stayed with us for about 2 months.
We had a great time. Jeremy worked on my Grandma's teeth and I must say they turned out great.

They were able to be here for a lot. Kaly and Mady were in the Harvest of Talents for their school. They both played the piano. They played the same songs that they performed for their piano recital. Kalyann took 1st in the 5th grade and Madelyn took 3rd in the 2nd grade. Kalyann had to play in front of the whole school and she did great. Grandma and Grandpa were able to go and that was fun. We also caught grandpa making us boiled cabbage and washing windows!!

For Thanksgiving, my family went to Justin and Jessica's. Well we didn't get to go. Briana came down with ear infections and the chicken pox! So we decided to stay home. It was sad not to be with family, but I took no short cuts. I still wanted the real Thanksgiving meal. We had a quiet day, but it was still fun. We made the most of it.
After the hustle and bustle of the holidays came Christmas. My mom and dad were traveling to Arizona. We were here for Christmas this year. We went to Jeremy's families a couple of weeks before. We had a great time ice skating and our traditional "ball" and dinner with them. My mom and dad decided to stay for Christmas day. That was a ton of fun. It was great to have them here and we didn't have to travel!! We had a great Christmas and loved being home!

After Christmas was Madelyn's baptism. Jeremy's family came and my family. Madelyn is such a bright little girl and we were so proud of her to choose to be baptized. She looked beautiful and loved to have everyone here for her and her special day. Thanks to those that spoke and helped with the program. It was wonderful!

Ok well there is a catch up in a nutshell!
