Girls' first aprons!

On Monday the kids still were out of school for spring break so we decided to do a sewing project. Kaly has been dying for me to teach her how to sew for awhile. So we did some straight stitches. It was fun, but the attention span wasn't long, and well mom couldn't handle it not sewn right!! They did great and here are some pics of the final product!!

Kaly's apron......I copied it from a friend who had a vintage one. I thought it was so cute!

Spring Break

Well we had a great spring break with the kids. The weather was beautiful! We got all the chores done and laundry done on Monday so we could play the rest of the week. Tuesday and Wednesday we just hung out, went to the park with a picnic and played games. Thurday my sister'n'law came with her 2 kids. We had a great time. The kids got to play outside, ride bikes, went to the park, went swimming, played the wii and Jess and I sewed some table cloths. We had a great time. Thanks Jess for coming!! (I didn't have my camera so sorry no pics!!)

Chicken anyone?

Well I did my first canning project. I bottled 80 pounds of chicken yesterday!! Some of us got chicken on sale here and decided to bottle it. We used a pressure cooker. I came out with 20 quarts and 71 pints. I actually had fun. The picture kind of looks gross, but it is actually tastes good. It is just shredded chicken for enchiladas, tacos, chicken salad, sandwiches..... It feels great to put it on my shelves for food storage.

1. Spring....I love the blossoms and spring weather.
2. My garden to grow. We are planting a big garden this year and are soooo excited!
3. No one to be sick in our house!!
4. Going geocaching this weekend with the kids.
5. Spring break.
6. When dance is over for the girls!!
7. The economy to get better.
8. I am making Chocolate sheet cake....so a piece of that sounds good!!

Britster

We just wanted to pass along Britton's blog. Those of you that know Kelli and Mitch, their son has open heart surgery tomorrow. Kelli created a blog so we can follow how things go. She can't have her cell phone in the hospital. Sounds like Britton is calm and doing well. I think missing the 6 weeks of kindergarten is the hardest part for him!! (I am not sure he understands the recovery yet.) Anyhow if you want to follow here is the blog:

Love of Geocaching

Our family has been getting into geocaching lately. It has been a lot of fun for us to go out and find "treasures" somewhere in the mountains. Well anywhere really. There are 100's within 20 minutes of our house. You follow the gps to the coordinates and try to find the hidden cache there. My kids have loved it, it has been fun for us to go together and best of all no money spent!!

Happy Birthday Kalyann!!

March 1st was Kaly's 10th Birthday. We just wanted to tell her how much we love and appreciate her. Here are 10 things that we love about Kalyann:
1. She is so loving to us and her brother and sisters. Very compassionate and a great sense of humor.
2. She is a great help with Briana. She helps get her ready, feeds her, plays with her and Briana
loves her too!
3. We love her smile and her eyes.
4. She is very good at school, especially english and math.
5. Kalyann is fun to watch dance. She has taken a few years now and we love to support her.
6. Piano......she does great playing and we all like to listen, half of the time she doesn't know it.
7. Kaly always asks to help me with dinner. Lately I have been letting her do more and it is fun.
8. She tries hard with everything she wants to do. She always wants things to go well.
9. We like that she loves music. She loves to listen to music and dance around. (mom joins in)
10. Kalyann is a girly girl, but she also loves to go out and enjoy the mountains especially with
her family.
