Hurricane Idol!

Well we had a very busy and eventful week this past week. The girls were nominated to participate in the Hurricane Idol. Now for those of you not from here, to my girls it was a big deal. Ha Ha!! Well there were 70 nominated, but 60 ended up participating. We were busy looking for songs that would work for them. Kalyann chose Best Day of Our Lives by Kelli Pickler for her first song and Firflies for her second if she made it to the finals. Madelyn chose Love Story from Taylor Swift for her first song and Tommorrow from Annie for her 2nd if she made it to the finals.

Thursday night was the big day. Madelyn was number 3 and Kalyann was number 13. Which they both said were their favorite numbers. :o) Well they both did great. It was a full house with many standing. They didn't seem nervous at all! They had 5 judges there. Madelyn made it to the final 3, but Kaly didn't. She did really good though. I think she was a little relieved not to have to get ready for Saturday!! The judges gave them comments and a certificate. We had lots of friends and the girls' cousins and aunt there and that was so fun for them.
Here is some video of Thursday night:

Saturday we were all excited to go. Saturday night the audience judges. At the end of the performances they pass out scantron sheets and we vote which one we want in each category. Then they run them through the machine to give the results. Madelyn was a little down all day and we weren't sure if it was nerves or she just wasn't feeling herself. The wonderful mom I am I kept saying "Do you need Tylenol?", well that didn't work. "Soup?", that didn't work either, okay the big one!! "How about a Pepsi?" I don't normally ask if my kids need a Pepsi, but she needed something to wake her up and lift her spirits! She took 2 sips I think, but that was all. Well when the make up and hair was done, she was in her dress, the sparkle came back and she was fine. I think a little more rest would have been good!

Mady was #1 so that was a little nerve racking. I just said at the end she can wave her finger, #1 vote #1 and that would be cool. I said, when will you ever be #1 for a competition again, so just have fun with it! Well she did Tommorrow first and did great. Then after all the contestants finished thier first song, she performed Love Story, which she likes the best, and whew! She was done. We weren't sure what the results would be since it is pretty much a popularity contest at this point. One of the other little boys had an older brother in High School with some loud cheers so we were thinking he had the vote from all of them. Mady's cousins made cute signs and coloring pictures for her. We all cheered loud and had plenty of friends there for her. Then the time came and the Hurricane Pee Wee Idol was Madelyn Hatch! We were so excited. She was thrilled. She got some fun prizes including a 2 hour recording session, photo session, and a bunch of gift certificates and $20. We had a blast and Kaly says she can't wait until next year! (I was probably the most stressed, but isn't that the way it goes!)

Catch Up!

Well the sad thing is I haven't blogged since November, so we won't go into the details of the Holidays. Just a quick update. My grandparents stayed with us for about 2 months.
We had a great time. Jeremy worked on my Grandma's teeth and I must say they turned out great.

They were able to be here for a lot. Kaly and Mady were in the Harvest of Talents for their school. They both played the piano. They played the same songs that they performed for their piano recital. Kalyann took 1st in the 5th grade and Madelyn took 3rd in the 2nd grade. Kalyann had to play in front of the whole school and she did great. Grandma and Grandpa were able to go and that was fun. We also caught grandpa making us boiled cabbage and washing windows!!

For Thanksgiving, my family went to Justin and Jessica's. Well we didn't get to go. Briana came down with ear infections and the chicken pox! So we decided to stay home. It was sad not to be with family, but I took no short cuts. I still wanted the real Thanksgiving meal. We had a quiet day, but it was still fun. We made the most of it.
After the hustle and bustle of the holidays came Christmas. My mom and dad were traveling to Arizona. We were here for Christmas this year. We went to Jeremy's families a couple of weeks before. We had a great time ice skating and our traditional "ball" and dinner with them. My mom and dad decided to stay for Christmas day. That was a ton of fun. It was great to have them here and we didn't have to travel!! We had a great Christmas and loved being home!

After Christmas was Madelyn's baptism. Jeremy's family came and my family. Madelyn is such a bright little girl and we were so proud of her to choose to be baptized. She looked beautiful and loved to have everyone here for her and her special day. Thanks to those that spoke and helped with the program. It was wonderful!

Ok well there is a catch up in a nutshell!

Happy Halloween!!

Can anyone say PARTY!! Man I am partied out! We have had a lot of Halloween this week. We had a neighborhood party on Monday with some friends, then a YM/YW party on Tuesday. Friday I helped with some class parties at the school and then of course Halloween!! It was fun, but I must say exhausting! We also had my niece Alexis baptised so there was a lot of family in town. That is a lot of fun, but hard to keep up. We went to Sycamore Lane again this year and I think they really did it good this year. I felt like there were more houses dressed up and it was a lot of fun for us. After trick or treating we watched a scary movie in the garage with a projector. We had a lot of fun, now we just need sleep! Here are some pictures to share!!

We went to the corn maze with some friends. The kids loved it. They had animals, a ho-down, and of course the maze that we weren't the best at!

First party!!

My grandparents are here for a few weeks and grandma came to watch the kids carve pumpkins and keep Breezy from eating the seeds!!

Food from the 2nd party. Do you like the nails?

YM/YW with the kaoroke (Kaly joined in), it was supposed to be Monstor Mash, yea right Taylor Swift won the vote!

The school had a costume parade. This is Kaden in the parade.

Kaly and Mady in the parade.

Piano Recital

Alright for some reason I get too behind!! We are playing a little bit of catch up AGAIN!! The girls had a piano recital a couple of weeks ago. They did a great job.....but we also had a sad day that day. We found out right before that our little bunny Hopper died. We decided to tell the kids after the recital and it is a good thing we did. There were a lot of tears and drama. We are not sure what happened, but everyone is fine now. Here is the recital pictures and of course the funeral!

Madelyn's song is "Funny Bunny"

Kalyann's song is "The Night and the Lady"

It was dark when we got back to tell them about hopper so of course we have a light and flashlights!!

Braces

Well for those that didn't know it....I didn't even know it....I got braces today. I was planning on the bottom to straighten my crooked tooth, but Dr. Brad noticed a slight "imperfection" on my top two teeth and decided to do the top too. Not sure how to feel now!! A bunch of metal in my mouth. Madelyn said that I don't look like mom and adults are not supposed to get braces. She also said I look like a teenager now. Funny!! Well we have loved Dr. Brad and I wanted to show you Kalyann's before and after. It was a year ago or so. She will need them again. This was just a "pre" round before all her permanent teeth came in. HUGE difference for her. She only had them for a short time, maybe a year. I can't remember exactly. I couldn't believe how much it changed her face shape. Thanks Dr. Brad and the Simister team!! Thanks for me today too. I think!!??!!
